What is the tone and reflexes in the limb_? If the child has hypotonia with absent reflexes it suggests either neuronal shock or LMN lesion in which case EMG, NCV would be required. If the tone is increased with brisk reflexes then it suggests UMN lesion and neuroimaging may be required. If the child has pain on moving the limb, rule out trauma, fracture and septic arthritis or joint dislocation.
