The various skin allergies are urticaria, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, and angioedema.
Hives are weals over the skin are medically known as urticaria. There are many types and causes of urticaria but most often urticaria occurs due to an unknown cause. It is an allergic phenomenon. Angioedema is similar to Urticaria but it affects a deeper skin layer
It is an itchy eruption of the skin that occurs in association with a hereditary predisposition to allergies. It usually starts in children less than 2 years of age and commonly affects skin creases such as elbows, back of knees, buttocks, and cheeks. In addition, children have dry skin.
Contact dermatitis means irritation of the skin caused by contact with some substances. In the hands, it could be due to detergents, soaps, metals, ointments, ghee, vegetables. In the face, it could be due to cosmetics. Metals, deodorants, chemicals, leather can especially lead to contact dermatitis.
Avoiding the allergen is the best prevention technique. For eczema, your doctor will prescribe antihistamines. In severe cases, steroid creams will be prescribed.
