whether to use Azithromycin in neonatal period or not_?

Azithromycin may lead to jaundice in newborns and should be avoided in children less than 6 months of age. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration {FDA} has not licensed any macrolide for use in infants aged Less than 6 months. Data on the safety and efficacy of Azithromycin and Clarithromycin use among infants aged Less than 6 months are limited. However for treatment of pertussis in children less than 1 month of age, there are research papers on use of azithromycin.
