What is the management of a 2 month old exclusive breast fed baby with moderate atopic dermatitis of the whole body not responding to DOVE soap, Emollients like petroleum jelly and Oilatum and topical steroids like 1percent Hydrocortisone and other non medical efforts like cotton clothes etc_?What antihistamine can be given in this baby for considerable period to prevent scratching due to pruritis_?Should cows milk be eliminated empirically in the maternal diet_? The baby has elevated IgE and eosinophil counts.

mother also has to avoid eating food known to cause allergy like nuts etc or using drugs

i advice ahypoallerginic milk formula or soya based formula and to add broadspectrum antibiotic topically to the low potency steroid to be used topically together with emolients, no need for oral antihistamines.

Hydroxyzine can be used to control the pruritis. Topical immunomodulators can be used in treatment of severe eczema.
