Sir,

Kindly, give me the reason, logic behind ,in observing

the dog for 10 days in RABIES TREATMENT, after it has

bitten a person.

The Rabid dog is considered to be infected approx 5 days prior to the day of `bite` and dies approx 5 days after birth invariably in several observed studies world over..Hence the 10 days observation period.Should the dog survive after `bite` after 7-10days of observation period the Post Exposure Prophylaxis can be converted to Pre Exposure Prophylaxis by giving the 3rd 7th day shot on 28th day.
