Besides antispasmodic drugs what else to give to releive acute periumbilical pain_?Any role of Atarax,Famotidine in such abdominal pain_?

Expert Answer :
It depends on the cause of pain. If due to gastritis, one can give antacids. If due to colic, one can give dimethicone. Rule out porphyria as cause of pain as well as renal anf gallbladder stones. Also rule out UTI. One can also give paracetamol.

There is very limited role of the medications mentioned.Some Institutions use paracetamol evn though abdominal pain is visceral.

at what age_?
in general keep a watch for the signs.if not relieved with antispasmodic, even if bowels and urine are normal, give a short course of aminiglycoside.
