A 12 YEAR CHILD KNOWN ASTHAMATIC IS ON BENZATANE PENCILIN EVERY MONTH FOR R.F PROPHYLAXIIS SINCE ONE YEAR.IS IT NECESSARY TO DO PENCILLINH SENSITIVITY EVERY MONTH BEFORE GIVING INJECTION_? OR CAN I GIVE IT EVERY MONTH WITHOUT TESTING

Yes, prior to giving penicillin, testing for allergy is a must before every injection as the patient may get hypersensitivity reaction with any shot even if the patient has received penicillin in the past.

Pencillinn should be tested every time.Anaphylaxis has been reported after multiple injections.

Any dose of penicilline can produce anaphylaxis.. So it is better to give test dose every month..

IT NECESSARY TO DO PENICILLIN SENSITIVITY EVERY MONTH BEFORE GIVING INJECTION.there is no doubt on this.i have seen cases with allergic reaction after long repeated injections.so always keep it in mind. thank you.
