2 months old child having weight 2.5 kg due to faulty feeding habbit.can we use pem for these pt or FTT IS THE CORRECT TERM.MY SECOND QUERY IS IS THERE ANY AGE LIMIT FOR USING TERM PEM AND FTT

PEM is usually used for children less than 5 years of age. A PEM child may still be growing. A failure to thrive child is one who is falling at least 2 SD on the percentiles.

we can`t use PEM term for this child
Age limit for PEM is 6 months - 5 years.

FTT IS USED TO DENOTE CHILDREN UP TO 3 TO 5Y OF AGE WHO ARE WASTED.MAY BE ORGANIC OR PSYCHOSOCIAL.
PEM IS generaly SECONDARY TO primary deficit in CALORIE AND PROTEIN intake due to multiple reasons.
Beyond 5y one uses the bmi charts
