What sedation can normally used in the chidren during lumbar puncture especially those who can't be restrained? Sometimes I feel the local infiltration given for analgesia may well be more painful than a single prick of LP needle? I need a more practical answer.

u can use phenargan or midazolam in lower doses but observation is must

we used inj.ketamine 2mg-kg- iv along with lorazopam they are safe

ketamine 1mg-kg slow over3-5mins is best and safe even in meningitis
occasional problems-transient desaturation responds well to nasal o2
rarely brief tonic seizure-
pulseox monitor and ready oxygen-must
