What is the role of Midazolam in neonatal seizure
5
Expert Answer :
Midazolam is a sedation similar to Diazepam except for the respiratory depression seen in Diazepam. Benzodiazepines are NOT anti-convulsants - Midazolam is used in Neonatal seizures to sedate the baby if the convulsions are distressing for the parents - but they don`t STOP convulsions as such - especially you can seee EEG seizures. Hence you need to consider an appropriate anti-convulsants for the seizure control.
