treatment of hypokalemia according to serum potassium

Expert Answer :
Before correcting hypokalemia with IV potassium, one must confirm good urine output. Maximum potassium in IV fluids should not exceed normally 40 meq per litre. However in life threatening serious hypokalemia, one may consider higher concentraton of potassium in IV fluids but under strict cardiac monitoring.
