Sometimes it seen is that children get white spots on their face and sometimes these spots are also seen in their nails. It is generally thought that they occur due to calcium deficiency. What are the other causes?

These white spots may be seen in children with worm infestation, calcium and iron deficiency and even with skin fungal infections.

the two conditions mentioned by you are different and unrelated,only common thing being that both are frequently seen in young children.while hypopigmented patches described by you are b-o pityriasis alba {also known as pityriasis simplex}a non specific dermatitis,white spots on nail are because of minor trauma,not associated with calcium defi.
