mother was found to be sputum plusve{3plus} for afb 3 days after delivery.should we start Rifampicin also with inh.is there any need for separation of the child for 7 days.the baby shows no sign of congenital tb

Expert Answer :
Yes, since the mother is AFB positive, it would be better to keep the baby away from the mother. However she can continue to give expressed breast milk. The baby should be screened for active TB. If there is no active TB, she should be given INH prophylaxis as per RNTCP.
