I have a 6 years old child diagnosed as Minimal change Nephrotic syndrome. I had discussed this child earlier also. Now he is on Prednisolone 60mg, m2, day for last 18 days. On recent review his examination recealed hepatomegaly 7 cm below costal margin and a span of 14 cm. Spleen not palpable. Liver enzymes are normal and protienuria is Nil. Serology for Hepatitis Band C are negative. Ultrasound has demonstrated fatty infilteration of the Liver.
How often do we come across fatty Liver in nephrotic syndrome_? Is it due to steroid treatment or is it because of metabolic changes occuring in nephrotic syndrome_?
When will it regress_?
Thanking you

Expert Answer :
the findings of hepato and slen o megally is unusual and would prompt me to look for an alternative cause of neph syndrome. the most important issue of steroid responsiveness is still the most important issue in any child with Neph Synd tim
