Unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia in the presence of normal liver function test findings ruling out all other causes of indirect hyperbilirubinemia is characteristic of Grigler Najjar syndrome. Transferase activity measurements and the response to Phenobarbital treatment distinguish type 1 from type 2.
