During foetal life amniotic fluid is required for integrity of alveoli. Can amniotic fluid not causes aspiration pneumonia? Why so?

In fetal life, lungs are not the organs of respiration. The oxygen required by the fetus is provided by the placental circulation. Also the amniotic fluid is sterile and non irritating. In case of infection, of the amniotic fluid, infection of the lung can also take place leading to congenital pneumonia.

no.because the viscosity of amniotic fluid is not so high like meconium. also it does not cause free radical injury to alveolar epithelium like water. and pneumonia will occur if the lungs dont function as air exchange system which they are already not working for. as that function is done by the placenta. that is why postpartum fluid in the lungs cause distress, never prepartum. and lastly even fluid in the lung does not cause pneumonia unless it is infected and amniiotic fluid is very sterile.
