Does a single blood transfusion {either pcv or whole blood}affect bone marrow examination. if it is so after how many days of blood transfusion bone marrow aspiration should be performed?

Yes, a single blood transfusion affects the bone marrow examination especially the presence of blasts in a child with leukemia. If suspecting leukemia, serially monitor CBC weekly and as soon as there is a change that appears, one may do a bone marrow examination.

single blood transfusion may affect the BM as it surpresses the activities of the marrow and as such a minimum of 120days may be required before a BMA is done
