Chikungunya disease is caused by the Chikungunya virus. It is Alphavirus. The disease is spread by culicine mosquitoes. Sudden severe headache, chills, fever, joint and muscle pain are the commonest symptoms. Dengue is a close differential diagnosis. Treatment is supportive. Diagnosis is by serology.
