can u please tell the duration of treatment with leukotriene antagonist when used for intermittent asthma and in continuous prophylaxis .
thank u for the detailed answer on indications for the same

The duration of therapy {using leukotriene antagonists} for both intermittent therapy and continuous prophylaxis varies according to individual practice. There have been studies where intermittent leukotriene antagonists have been used for about 2 weeks {around an exacerbation} with some success. Continuous prophylaxis is generally continued till symptom control is achieved and maintained for up to three months duration or longer.

Duration is for 6 weeks and step down. Indications are add on therapy for poor control with low dose steroids, or less than 5 year old as preventer or for viral induced wheeze
