At what age can we use Ciprofloxacin to treat typhiod fever and what is the dose?

Fluoroquinolones are not licensed for use in children, but are sometimes required to treat serious infections. Infact there have been several reports of successful treatment of enteric fever with ciprofloxacin. Dose has varied from 10-15mg-kg-dose BD for 7-14 days.
