Antibiotics are useful only in patients with dystentery or chronic diarrhea due to bacterial infections. The use of
Colistin
should be considered for the treatment of infections caused by gram-negative bacteria resistant to other antimicrobials or when treatment with these agents has been clinically ineffective.
