A 5 yrs female child is having high fever{106 f}since 7 days.CRP is positive. WBC-6100,ESR-10,urine - pus cells:5-6,hpf. Widal -1 :120{O} and 1:240{H}. Xray chest-nad. Has soft splenomegaly,no hepatomegaly.Patient is not toxic. What is the probable diagnosis?

Since WIdal is positive and patient is having high grade fever, one should rule out enteric fever. A clot culture would be useful. Also rule out malaria.

CRP raised,widal Plus ve,palpable spleen is fair evidence in favour of uncomplicated enteric fever.
