2 month old male with UTI, was treated with Ceftriaxone IV for 3 days awaiting culture and sensitivity.
He was sent home on Bactrim 8mg, kg, d for 11 days.
My question is if the sensitivity to Bactrim was MIC of 0.5, 9 will the medication work well or should he get amoxicilin { {ampicillin MIC Less than 4}

Expert Answer :
Bactrim should work. However considering the child`s age, it would be better to avoid sulpha drugs and give Amoxicillin or Ampicillin instead.
