Whether to use Ganciclovir or not in treatment of cmv hepatitis in neonates?

The long-term outcome of infants with CMV hepatitis is unpredictable. Some patients have persistent liver injury despite ganciclovir therapy. Owing to the possible serious side-effects the cost-benefit of ganciclovir treatment should be carefully evaluated.

U should use it as it reduces chances of sensoryneural deafness and some other complications.however it is preferably given before 6 weeks of age
