Presence of urine reducing subtances suggests presence of either glucose or galactose in the urine. Presence of glucose can be confirmed by Benedict's test.
Galactose is present in galactosemia. Glucose is usually seen in diabetes mellitus, hyperglycemia or fanconi's syndrome.
