What is the incidence of Chickenpox cerebellitis? Is anti viral drug useful for these patients?

The incidence of chickenpox cerebellitis is 1,4000 cases of chickenpox. It is gradual in onset with child developing ataxia, nystagmus and slurred speech. Clinical recovery is rapid and complete and doesn`t require antiviral drug.

Post varicella ataxia occurs with an incidence of 1:4000 patients. Since the ataxia occurs post acute chickenpox infection, there is no role of antivirals.
