Should i start antibiotics therapy in a child with suspected bacterial gastroenteritis with high fever,vomiting and bloody diarrhea while hemolytic uremic syndrome is in considration.and which better to start co-trimoxazole or cefitriaxone while waiting for stool culture results.

Expert Answer :
As per WHO, drug of choice for dysentry is quinolone or antibiotic as per area specific sensitivity. If the child also has systemic involvement, a 3rd generation cephalosporin would be preferred.
