For osteogenesis imperfecta, inheritance is autosomal dominant and chances of recurrence in next pregnancy is 50 Percent. Antenatal screening in form of regular ultrasounds may pick up fractures in utero and may then be recommended for termination of pregnancy.
For the present child, there is no curative treatment. Treatment with bisphosphonates may improve the bone density and decrease the fracture rate.
