Is potassium restriction necessary for nephrotic syndrome? Shall proteins be restricted in nephrotic syndrome?

potassium restriction is not needed unless over-riding renal failure is seen and adequate proteins should be given as there is already protein wasting.

No potassium restriction is not required in nephrotic syndrome. Protein intake should be normal during the active disease and high protein diet should be given once the patient goes in remission to compensate for the protein losses in the urine. During active state, high protein intake will increase the protein load on the glomerlus and lead to damage.

k is usually high in nephrotic syndrom but according to blood k level we should adjust supplementation .
for protien should be decreased
