Hello sir, madam
i would like to know how to caculate commonly used drugs dosage..i mean drugs used for cold cough fever ...

Drug doses in children should ideally be calculated as per the weight of the child. Most of the drugs are calculated as per mg, kg, dose or mg, kg, day in divided doses.

Another method of calculation is based on the formula using adult doses.

Young’s formula:
Child dose= {agepergeplus12} x adult dose

Dilling’s formula:
Child dose=age, 20 x adult dose

To simplify, most of the commonly used over-the-counter drugs can also be roughly calculated as:
Newborn dose=12.5 percent of adult doe
1 year old dose=25 percent of adult dose
7 year old dose=50 percent of adult dose
12 year old dose=75 percent of adult dose
