Can anti convulsant drug be started at first episode of seizure which last for only 5 min.or we should wait for second episode to start full anticonvulsant and investigation..

Whether to treat a first seizure or not depends on many factors viz childs age, type of seizure, status of his brain development and the investigations - MRI and EEG. The risk of recurrence varies from 24-80 percent based on these factors. So one needs to individualise the decision of to treat or not to treat.
