Econazole

Mechanism :

Econazole nitrate is an antifungal medication of the imidazole family.


Indication :

  • Fungal skin infection like tinea cruris, tinea pedis, tinea versicolor, tinea corporis and cutaneous candidiasis.

Contraindications :

Contraindicated in individuals who have shown hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients. Avoid contact with eyes.


Dosing :

Under 3 months: Safety and efficacy not established.
>3 months:
Apply cream to affected areas once every day for 2 weeks in cases of tinea cruris, corporis, versicolor, cutaneous candidiasis and for 4 weeks in cases of tinea pedis.

Adverse Effect :

Contraindicated in individuals who have shown hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients. Avoid contact with eyes.

Side effects are burning, itching, stinging, and erythema.


Hepatic Dose :

No dosage adjustments are recommended.
