I have a child with the following symptomatology- fever past 7 days, dysentry and now melena past 4 days, altered sensorium, thrombocytopenia, mild azotemia, grossly deranged LFT'S, normal CSF examination and electrolytes. He has a normal urine output so far. PT PTTK- mildly deranged. Till now has received 2 blood transfusions and IV ANTIBIOTICS. Could it be TTP {thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura}? Please give me few alternate diagnoses?

What is the age? After 2 trasfusions does his Hb rise? can it be HUS?
