I came across a five days old baby with drying umbilical stump. There was a yellowish creamy material in the stump and a red nodule. There was two episodes of bleeding form the umbilicus but no other discharge. There was no periumbilical erythema. Apart from that the baby was normal. He was not febrile, was active and the breast feeding was also normal. What could be the causes and what are the important aspects of management? Thank You.
