Can a 2yrs old child having Thalessemia minor also have concomitant Iron deficiency? Will giving Iron supplements in this situation lead to Iron overload?

yes, the 2 yr. old can have concomitant iron deficiency. iron supplements should not lead to iron overload as this child should never need blood transfusions, which are the main cause of iron overload.

Yes,Thal.minor can have Iron deficiency
One can St Iron prep in usual dosage and review hematocrit after 6 wks.If improvement confirms Iron def. else consider no deficiency.
