After how many hours of LSCS done under complete GA breastfeeding should be advised?
1
Expert Answer :
Modern GA is usually done using volatile agents which are washed out from the lungs very soon after they are switched off from the anesthesia machine. And that is when the patient awakens from GA. Post-GA drowsiness may persist for about 30-60 minutes. Usually, breastfeeding can be initiated after - 60 minutes post GA if the mother`s condition is hemodynamically stable and she is not under heavy sedation. This is the international recommendation.
