A 10 YEARS OLD GIRL HAS A SMALL VSD {4mm}. SHE IS OTHERWISE HEALTHY. WHAT SHOULD BE THE TREATMENT?

to my opinion it's better to repair it surgically.because over a years it'll prevent risk of cardiac burden and allow her good sporting activities and possibility of cardiac infections Plus at time of pregnancy it'll be real test for her to have hyperdynamic senario

Small Perimembranous VSD - Both abroad and in India the general consensus is wait and defer surgery- intervention. Close monitoring essential for aortic valve prolapse, RV infundibular obstruction and parents emphasised the need for infective endocarditis prophylaxis{ all of which would be an indication for semi elective closure }
Of late - device closure is being attempted for closure of PM VSD with fairly good results , but is restricted to those with a good rim from the AV Valves- muscular VSD { Echocardiographic specifications}

as the patient has neither CHF, nor pulmonary hypertension and not even growth failure,patient only needs follow up. surgery is not indicated
