Resorcinol

Synonym :

Resveratrol

Mechanism :

Resveratrol suppresses NF-kappaB (NF-kappaB) activation in HSV infected cells. Reports have indicated that HSV activates NF-kappaB during productive infection and this may be an essential aspect of its replication scheme.


Indication :

  • Treatment of Herpes Labialis (cold sores)

Contraindications :

Hypersensitivity, Broken skin, <2 years patients.


Dosing :

>2 years:
Apply lotion (4 gm/100 ml). Max: 4 times/day.

Adverse Effect :

Circulatory collapse, exfoliative dermatitis, methemoglobinemia, seizures, erythema, irritation, local skin hyperpigmentation, peeling.


Interaction :

None.



Hepatic Dose :

No dosage adjustments are recommended.
