Turpentine

It is colorless when fresh. It is extensively used to dissolve varnish paints and grease stains.
Route :
Ingestion
Fatal Dose :
150 to 200ml
Fatal Period :
few minutes to 12 hours
Clinical Picture :
• Skin: redness, itching, vesication
• GIT: nausea , vomiting, colic, diarrhea
• RS: central depression, pneuominia
• CNS: excitement, giddiness, confusion, convulsions, coma
• Renal: hematuria, albuminuria, oliguria, renal failure

Treatment :
• Gastric lavage with weak solution of sodium bicarbonate
• Demulcents
• Symptomatic
