Stimulants


They stimulate the CNS resulting in diminution of sense of fatigue and increase in mental alertness. Produce euphoria which is followed by depression. eg. Amphetamine

Route :
Ingestion
Fatal Dose :
200 mgs
Fatal Period :
5 to 6 days
Clinical Picture :
• excitement, talkative, restlessness, irritability, tremors, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, palpitations and tachycardia
• delirium and hallucinations
• in very deep poisoning: convulsions and deep unconsciousness

Treatment :
• put the patient in dark room
• gastric lavage
• sedatives
