Pramoxine

Mechanism :

As an anaesthetic, it decreases the neuronal membrane's permeability to sodium ions.


Indication :

  • Temporary relief of pain and itching associated with haemorrhoids, burns, minor cuts, scrapes, or minor skin irritations.

Contraindications :

No contraindications.


Dosing :

Minor skin irritation:
≥2 years:
Lotion, cream (1%): Apply to affected area up to 3-4 times daily.
Haemorrhoidal itching:
≥12 years:
Foam, ointment, wipes (1%): Apply to affected area up to 5 times daily.

Adverse Effect :

Local rash, irritation, swelling.


Interaction :

No known significant interactions.



Hepatic Dose :

No dose adjustment recommended.
