Elamipretide

Mechanism :

Mitochondria-targeting peptide; free radical scavenger and antioxidant that penetrates the cellular and outer mitochondrial membranes, and targets cardiolipin, which is found exclusively in the inner mitochondrial membrane.


Indication :

  • Pending FDA approval
  • Mitochondrial Myopathies
  • Optic Neuropathy
  • Leber’s Hereditary Optic Neuropathy

Dosing :

Only for use in children >16 years of age.
0.01-0.25 mg/kg/h IV infusion over 2 hours for 5 days.

Adverse Effect :

Headache, dizziness, abdominal pain, flatulence.


Hepatic Dose :
