Chloroxylenol

Mechanism :

Chloroxylenol is an antimicrobial chemical compound used to control bacteria, algae, and fungi in adhesives, emulsions, paints, and wash tanks. Its antibacterial action is due to disruption of cell membrane potentials.


Indication :

  • Used in antibacterial soaps and in household antiseptics
  • Otitis externa

Contraindications :

Hypersensitivity.


Dosing :

Otitis Externa:
Instill 3 drops into the affected ear 3 to 4 times daily.

Adverse Effect :

Hives, difficult breathing, angioedema.


Interaction :

No significant interaction found.



Hepatic Dose :

No dosage adjustments are recommended.
