Allantois

Mechanism :

Allantoin promotes and accelerates cell proliferation, has a soothing and moisturising effect on the skin. Also, allantoin promotes cell proliferation and swift epithelisation in skin areas which are superficially injured, heavily stressed and exposed to harsh weather. It also has a keratolytic action.


Indication :

  • For temporary relief of pain, itching, soreness associated with dry, chapped lips or cold sores. (used in combination with camphor and phenol).

Contraindications :

Previous Allergic reaction to the drug.


Dosing :

<2 years: Safety and efficacy not established.
>2 years: Applied to the affected area every 6-8 hours. Should not be applied more than 4 times daily.

Adverse Effect :

Irritation and redness, allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat), white residue of the ointment may be left on the lips.


Interaction :

Drug interactions with any oral or parental medications are unlikely.



Hepatic Dose :

No dosage adjustments are recommended.
