Right lateral rectus palsy

Question :
This child is looking to the right.

What is the diagnosis?

Discussion :
Right lateral rectus palsy. Palsy of the abducens nerve causes paralysis of the lateral rectus muscle. This is the most common isolated muscle palsy. In this palsy the eye is medially deviated and movement laterally from the midline is not possible. Most lateral rectus palsies were unilateral, almost equally distributed between right and left sides. Trauma, tumor, and congenital etiologies are the most prevalent causes. Raised ICT would lead to lateral rectus palsy as a false localizing sign. Benign recurrent lateral rectus palsy is a rare cause.
