what precaution taken when we give Gentamicin iv in children_?
is it safe to give iv Gentamicin with iv claforan at same time_?

For i.v. administration, a single dose of Gentamicin injection is diluted in 50-100 mL of sterile Normal Saline or in a sterile solution of Dextrose 5 percent in water. The solution is infused over a period of 1 to 2 hours and repeated every 8 hours

Whenever feasible, serum concentrations of Gentamicin should be monitored and prolonged concentrations above 12 µg, mL should be avoided

Cefotaxime can be given with Gentamicin but they should not be mixed in the same syringe.
