2 month old female child presented with generalised tonic clonic convulsions {4 episodes for 12 hrs}. There is no history of fever, cough and cold, vomiting, loose motion. No history suggestive of IU infection. On examination- concious child ,no features of dysmorphism, AF-normal, sutures normal, head circumference-normal, CNS- no signs of localization, rest of systemic examination -normal. Investigations-CBC, Serum electrolytes, glucose, calcium-normal, CSF-5 WBC with 4 neutrophils, protein, sugar and chloride -normal. Child responded with anticonvulsant. What should be the next step of Management?

Since 0-1 PMN is acceptable in neonate, think this case should be managed as meningitis along with anti-convulsants.

Rule out epilepsy. Get an EEG. Also brain malformations should be rule out. An MRI may be advisable. Lastly rule out inborn errors of metabolism.
