Mosapride

Mechanism :

Cisapride congener having similar gastrokinetic and lower esophageal sphincter action due to 5HT-4 agonistic and 5HT-3 antagonistic action in the myenteric plexus.


Indication :

  • Non-ulcer dyspepsia
  • GERD

Contraindications :

Hypersensitivity; Use with caution in arrhythmic patients for fear of Q-T prolongation culminating in Torsades De Pointes.


Dosing :

0.3 mg/kg/day PO in 2-3 divided doses.

Adverse Effect :

Diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, insomnia.


Interaction :

Erythromycin: Plasma concentration is elevated by erythromycin and other CYP3A4 inhibitors leading to QT prolongation.



Hepatic Dose :

There are no specific recommendations in pediatric patients; based on experience in adult patients, dosage adjustment suggested.
