Fresh Frozen Plasma

Indication :

  • Management/Prevention of Bleeding

Dosing :

10-15 mL/kg of body weight will increase factor levels by 15-25%. Transfusion frequency is determined by the half-life of the deficient factor. Depending on the required dosing, an aliquot of 1 unit, a whole unit or more than 1 unit of plasma may be issued.


Adverse Effect :

Allergic reactions (urticaria, anaphylaxis), febrile non-hemolytic reactions, hemolytic transfusion reactions, circulatory overload, septic reactions, transfusion associated graft versus host disease, transfusion related acute lung injury (TRALI), post-transfusion purpura.


Hepatic Dose :

No dosage adjustments are recommended.
