Introduction
Increase in CPK, LDH, HBDH, SGOT are characteristics of muscular dystrophies. Degree of elevation of muscle enzymes depend upon
- type of dystrophy (marginal rise is seen in facioscapulohumeral type),
- duration of the disease (decreasing enzymes are seen during late burnt-out stage) &
- the severity of the disease.
- In advanced DMD, creatinine is usually low
